Moving beyond the early web

Director of Production · Director of Digital Production

I joined to modernize a digital production operation that had grown up in the early web era. The work had expanded into global websites, integrated campaigns and ongoing social content.

My role grew from leading digital production to broader production responsibilities, combining hands-on projects such as Nissan’s Project Titan with leading producer teams for Netflix, Grey Goose and Airbnb.

Bringing digital into one team

Separate digital units had their own capabilities and ways of working. I brought them into one team of producers, motion designers, editors and technology specialists, with a structure and workflows suited to campaigns running across multiple platforms.

It created a more connected production operation, with clearer ownership and more flexibility in how projects were staffed and delivered.

Working across the network

I helped bring together a distributed production team of more than 100 people and developed Los Angeles into a digital production resource for the wider TBWA network.

Cross-training gave producers experience across disciplines. Closer connections between offices made that expertise available beyond the local team.

Making space to experiment

When TBWA introduced the Digital Arts Network, I established the practice in Los Angeles.

The innovation lab provided space to explore tools and approaches outside the demands of an active campaign. Producers, motion designers, editors and technology specialists could test ideas, develop prototypes and bring what they learned into client work.
